Today is Birthday of Megan Follows, who starred as Anne in the Anne of Green Gables series. I have never sen the film, but judging from film stills I think she did a good job and matches my image of Anne quite well. I also find it interesting that the Birthday of the book heroine and the actress in the adaptaition are on the same day. Therefore I thought I might celebrate Anne's Birthday today. And I did with the drawing (I love being on sick leave when already feeling better and reading and drawing as much as I please!)
In the drawing she's looking in the mirror wearing Jem's (false) pearls. I spoilt her face a little when outlining with ink :( On the whole I wanted her to be half dreaming, half smiling warmly at Jem's present which she really treasured. I don't know if I managed that...I really think I spoilt her face when outlining, it was more expessive in the pencil sketch :((
Anne Shirley is such a special person you really want to do something for her on her Birthday, so this is my tribute to Anne, just as it is (even if the portrait is a bit lopsided)!

Oh, Irina, it's lovely picture! I like it so much! I'm so sorry that you didn't see the movie with Megan Follows:-( She was great Anne!
Oh and what a nice idea to draw the very that moment from the books where Jem made a present to his mom:-) It's so sweet!

You know one my internet-friend has site about Anne too and she has a page of fan-art, where she collects illustrations to Annes books. Her site is this http://anne.honeytart.com/
She even has a topic in her forum where you can share your artworks, I know she would be happy if you show her your drawings! You can you allow me to sent her this drawing and she'll post it in her site under your name:)
I've been to this lovely site only recently and even printed out a calendar (in black-and white thought). Must look into the forum too!
As for my Bithday, it's a while away in the future yet, on the 30th of July. So we share the astrological sign, only I'm an early Leo and you are a late one!
As for the drawing, I do not like it as much as I wanted because the result is not exactly what I expected (might change in time, I did not quite like The Blue Castle drawing first, now I like it much better), but I love that sweet episode with the pearl necklace from Ingleside

Irina,I forgot to tell you something very important about The Neverending Story: before print the book make sure the file has the text in two colours, prob red and green, and print it that way. That's VERY important to read this book, because the colour of the text sometimes changes from red to green and from green to red depends in what's happening and you'll miss that if you print it in black and white! This is more important than you'll imagine and you will understand it just when you get to read it. Is hard to explain it here.

Look, the text in two colours is essential, to read it in black and white is like not reading it at all! Is hard to explain but it is so... it has to be somewhere in two colours... maybe if you try with Amazon or ebay? Maybe there's an interesting offer there.

In any case, thank the girls for encouragement... And I might actually draw something else LMM-based. that's for sure!
However, I'm translating The Return of Hester from Further Chronicles of Avonlea into Russian (in the office, pretending I'm toiling over instruction manuals!), I'll send it to you to read once I've finished!
Oh, your new translation - it would be great! And I also want more LMM-drawings, when you'll have free time of course:) I'm looking forward:)
